RM23,000 up for grabs in Song Chart Award

Kota Kinabalu: A total of RM23, 000 will be awarded to the winners of the Sabah Artist Song Chart Champion Award (CLAS-15) Season 15, this Saturday.

Deputy Director of the Malaysian Broadcasting Department (RTM) in Sabah Cyril Simon said ten songs, including “Menanti Akhirnya” by Cearah, “Sumpah Setia” by Santiana Ramli, “Sakitku Bahagiamu” by Fadh Lee, and “Teguh” by Qalisya, will be featured in the final stage of CLAS-15.

Also performing at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) Recital Hall later will be songs “Kisah Kita” by Ires, “Cinta Tak Sempurna” by Rocasia, “Kerlingan Rindu” by Syarweena, “Penjaga Jodoh” by Apiz Paschya, “Mungkin ini Bukan Sayang” by Velvet, and “Rasa Hati” by Verryca B.

“The aim of the competition is to encourage the creation of songs in Bahasa Melayu, especially among song composers in Sabah and sung by local artists.

According to Cyril, throughout this 15th season, a total of 46 songs were nominated in the chart and voted through online using google form which can be obtained through the Sabah Artist Song Chart (CLAS).

“The champion song will receive a cash prize of RM5,000, while the winner of Best Vocal will collect RM3,000, the winner of Best Lyrics will receive RM3,000, along with a certificate and accompanying prizes.

“Moreover, best performance will receive RM3,000, along with trophies and other prizes donated by Jetama Sdn Bhd,” he said.

Nine consolation prize winners will each receive RM1,000, trophies, participation certificates, and accompanying prizes donated by Sabah Oil Gas & Development Sdn Bhd.

Also present at the event were Howard Martin Kim Sung, Assistant Director of Entertainment and Music, and Dayang Marni Awang Matusin, the Producer of the 15th Season Sabah Artist Song Chart Champion Award.
