RM241,000 in subsidies channelled through Madani sales programme in Sabah

TAWAU: The Federal Government channelled RM241,000 in subsidies through 27 editions of the Kuskop Madani Sales Programme (JMK) in Sabah between January and June this year, recording 347,000 sales transactions.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the ministry was committed to expanding the programme to more underserved areas, including suburban locations, by the end of the year.

He said he had instructed the ministry's Cooperative Division and the Sabah office of the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) to identify additional locations so that more districts in the state could benefit from the initiative.

Mohamad said Kuskop remained committed to helping ease the rising cost of living by offering essential goods at affordable prices through cooperatives, with discounts of up to 30 per cent available during Sunday's JMK programme at the Sabindo Weekly Market.

He added that the programme, introduced in 2019 through a collaboration between Kuskop and SKM, had also strengthened the role of cooperatives in the community, while last year recording more than RM8 million in sales and attracting 235,195 visitors nationwide.
