RM25 million allocated to repair disaster-hit infrastructure in Sabah, Sarawak

PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an allocation of approximately RM25 million to repair infrastructure damaged by floods, landslides, and fires in Sabah and Sarawak.

Speaking at the Kenduri Rakyat event in Ipoh this afternoon, he also announced immediate assistance of RM1,000 for each family affected by these disasters.

“Let us pray for the safety and protection of our brothers and sisters in Sabah and Sarawak. May Allah swiftly lift these calamities from Borneo,” he said.

The number of evacuees at flood relief centres in Sabah and Sarawak has continued to rise, with 15,015 this morning compared to 11,886 last night.

In Sarawak, the number of evacuees rose to 9,398 from 2,725 families this morning, up from 7,503 from 2,096 families last night.

In Sabah, the number of flood evacuees continued to rise, with 5,617 from 1,899 families as at 8 am, compared to 4,383 from 1,475 families last night. - January 31, 2025.
