RM260,000 allocation for trade union programme in Sabah

Kota Kinabalu: A total of RM260,000 has been allocated for the Trade Union Affairs Programme (PHEKS) in Sabah this year.

Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, said the provision involved 31 out of 65 trade unions that made an application.

“For Sabah, JHEKS received 65 applications from various clusters and 31 were approved with a total allocation of RM260,014.

“Compared to last year, only 16 trade unions were successful in their application with the approval of RM176,550.

Abdul Rahman said the PHEKS assistance is one of the initiatives to ensure the 3K strategic mission of the Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) – the welfare, skills and success of trade union members - continues to be taken care of and given priority.

“Based on the strategic mission of 3K, it is my hope that every trade union in this country continues to fight for the rights and welfare of workers so that they are always preserved and protected,” he said.

In the event, a total of 30 trade unions received a check for PHEKS assistance presented by Abdul Rahman.

Also present were JHEKS Director General Mohd Asri Abdul Wahap, Sabah JHEKS Director Noraini Ithnin, President of the Government Employees’ Union Congress (Cuepacs), Datuk Dr Adnan Mat, and Sabah Manpower Department Director Wan Zulkifli Wan Setapa.
