PETALING JAYA: A reward of RM3,000 has been offered for information on a man seen allegedly flaying a cat in a video.

In a Facebook post, the Malaysia Animal Association (MAA) said the reward money is aimed at encouraging people to share the necessary information for an official report to be submitted to the authorities to investigate the incident.

“A thorough investigation into the killing of this cat is needed to identify the method of killing and the intention behind it, whether it was for food or just done for fun,” it said.

“If the investigation finds that the cat was deliberately killed, especially for the purpose of social media content, the perpetrator should be apprehended, thoroughly investigated, and brought to justice.”

It added that killing cats for food is not a common practice in Malaysian society and should not be normalised.

In the 48-second video that the association recently received, the man spoke in Bahasa Melayu with a noticeable foreign accent while demonstrating how to flay the cat.

At the time of writing, FMT cannot confirm when or where the video was taken.
