Kota Kinabalu: The RM320.25 million Federal Government aid allocated to Sabah to help resolve its water woes has yet to be disbursed, hence the State Cabinet will use the State’s funds first to implement short-term projects.
State Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said this was decided during a Cabinet meeting on July 26 to ensure that the projects can be implemented.
“The State Government has presented 20 selected short-term solution projects (to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya on June 1) with an estimated total cost of RM300.25 million," said Shahelmey during today's State Legislative Assembly sitting.
“Following that, the special technical committee on the Sabah water supply issue held a meeting on June 13, where eight projects with a total cost of RM185 million were approved out of 20 projects that had been applied for."
