Kota Kinabalu: A total of 1,155 volunteer and 211 auxiliary firefighters in Sabah received financial aid amounting to RM409,800 through the Special Aidilfitri Financial Aid (BKKA) 2023.
Each of them received RM300 through the Volunteer Fire Brigade Association Committee (PBS), monitored by respective fire station chiefs.
“The payment was channelled directly from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) to the PBS account and the distribution has begun on April 14.
“The delivery of BKKA 2023 Aid for the Kota Kinabalu Zone was completed by JBPM Sabah Deputy Director Farhan Sufyan Borhan to the Unggun Jaya Volunteer Fire Brigade, PBS Pulau Gaya, PBS Kg Cenderamata 2 Likas, PBS Kg Kolonsunan Inanam and PBS Penampang.
“Apart from the RM3,000 Aid Grant to PBS every year, the BKKA is also expected to lighten burdens and further strengthen the role of volunteers in delivering services to the community,” said a spokesperson for the Sabah Fire Operations Centre in a statement.
The Ministry of Finance has approved and channelled allocations totalling RM3,022,800 million to 8,049 volunteer and 2027 auxiliary firemen throughout Malaysia.
The Government through the national 2023 Budget on Feb 24 announced BKKA to ease the burden of volunteer members ahead of Aidilfitri.
