PENAMPANG: A 26-year-old local man was arrested and various types of drugs seized during a special operation at a condominium in Penampang on Wednesday afternoon, said district police chief Supt Sammy Newton on Thursday.

He said the suspect was detained after attempting to flee and was apprehended without any untoward incident.

Police seized 10 transparent plastic packets containing crystalline substances suspected to be ketamine, weighing an estimated 512.30 grammes and 28 plastic packets containing powder suspected to be ecstasy with a total gross weight of 944.43 grammes.

The total drugs seized were estimated to weigh 1,456.73 grammes with a market value of about RM47,400, while police also confiscated RM700 in cash, a mobile phone and several access cards.

Urine screening tests found the suspect positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine and ketamine, and the case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
