Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity has contributed RM5.2 million towards community development initiatives over the past few years, focusing on education, welfare and environmental protection.

“The corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts would continue throughout 2026, in line with the company’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of Sabahans,” said Sabah Electricity Chief Corporate Communication Officer Lisa Wan at a media luncheon attended by members of the Sabah Journalist Association and Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association, here, Tuesday.

Lisa said 2026 would see the implementation of high-impact projects critical to Sabah’s energy development, describing them as milestones in the journey towards sustainable growth.

She thanked reporters for their fair coverage of the company’s work, especially during power outages and other emergencies, saying accurate news reports help keep the public properly informed.

“We believe that the role of media is highly significant in helping to explain issues, improvement efforts and the direction we are implementing,” she said, acknowledging the utility company faces various operational challenges and public expectations.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its strategic relationship with the media to ensure accurate, transparent and balanced information reaches Sabahans.

As a utility company serving the people of Sabah, she said Sabah Electricity values the cooperation, support and feedback provided by media partners in fulfilling its service mandate to the State.

Meanwhile, 10 journalists received assistance from Sabah Electricity as part of its community support programme.

Present were Utusan Borneo Editor-in-Chief Datuk Lichong Angkui, Kota Kinabalu Journalists Association Chairman Jimmy Goh and Sabah Journalists Association Vice President Ricardo Unto.
