Kota Kinabalu: Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya presented financial aid of RM55,000 to help dozen families at Pulau Gaya Island whose houses were damaged by strong winds and heavy rain.
Of the amount, RM50,000 came from the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Zakat Fund) and RM5,000 from the Sabah Baitulmal Corporation.
The sudden gust of wind and heavy rain at about 3.30pm on Tuesday destroyed their houses.
