
SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force seized 11.06 kilogrammes of suspected syabu valued at RM550,000 following an operation at Pulau Bum-Bum here on Monday.
Sabah Region Four marine commander ACP Ahmad Amri Abdul Rahman said the seizure was made during an operation at Kampung Terusan Hujung at about 1.45am.
He said that acting on intelligence regarding drug trafficking activities, the Marine Police spotted a suspicious speedboat.
"When approached, a man aboard the boat jumped into the water and escaped toward land. Search efforts were carried out, but the suspect could not be located.
"An inspection of the abandoned boat revealed 11 packets containing substances believed to be syabu weighing 11.06kg,” he said, adding that the total value of the seizure, including the boat, was estimated at RM578,000.
