Kota Kinabalu: A 55-year-old man and his 27-year-old wife have been charged in the Magistrate Court with cheating and the dishonest concealment of RM60,000 cash.

Firdaus J. Alasa Abdullah is accused of cheating George Anthony by inducing him to believe that he (Firdaus) could construct a chicken coop for him and fraudulently persuading George to hand over RM60,000.

AdvertisementThe offence allegedly took place on Sept 4, 2023, at 1.30pm, at Agar Corporation Sdn Bhd in Damai here.

Firdaus pleaded not guilty to the charge under Section 420 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of between a year and 10 years and whipping and liability of a fine on conviction.

Read more Firdaus’ wife, Nuriwani Mat pleaded not guilty to dishonestly concealing the RM60,000 belonging to Agar Corporation in a Hong Leong Bank account belonging to Berjaya Empire, which was registered under her name.

The offence allegedly took place on Sept 5, 2023, at Hong Leong Bank, Bandar Indah branch in Sandakan.

The prosecution applied for a pre-trial case management (PTCM) and proposed bail at RM4,000 in two sureties on each accused.

He further submitted that Firdaus is also responsible for caring for his two grandchildren and in-laws, while Nuriwani is a housewife.

Tham fixed Feb 20 next year for PTCM.

Firdays and Nuriwani were released on bail of RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively in two sureties.
