RM667k worth of sales at Penampang carnival

Kota Kinabalu: A total of RM7.68 million in potential financing and RM667,067.94 worth of sales were recorded at the National Hawkers and Petty Traders Carnival 2023 (HPPK2023) held in Penampang last week.

The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) said the three-day carnival that concluded on Saturday (Dec 9) and held at Buhavan Square, attracted a total of 25,561 visitors.

In a statement, the Ministry said HPPK2023, which was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Dec 7, featured 304 hawkers and petty traders from various districts in Sabah, Labuan, Sarawak, Perak and Kuala Lumpur, among others.

Over 100 tamu (farmers’ market) traders from the Donggongon area also participated.

“Various types of products were showcased, including handicraft, food and local clothing. In addition, 11 food truck traders from Sabah and Sarawak also took the opportunity to promote their businesses at the carnival.

“Besides local products, the carnival also offered cuisine from the 14 states through the Anekarasa Madani segment,” the statement read.
