A total of 153 accounts linked to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), amounting to RM882,795.94, have been frozen, as confirmed by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. These actions are part of an ongoing investigation under Section 44(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing, and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act. Additionally, assets including 38 vehicles, estimated to be worth RM3.94 million, and 14 plots of land, whose value is still being assessed, were seized under Section 45(2) of the same act.
During a press conference held at the Police Training Centre (PULAPOL), Razarudin revealed further details of the ongoing investigation. A variety of other assets have also been confiscated, including 26 animals, such as nine horses, 14 rabbits, and three peacocks. In addition, cash totalling RM18,650 and two watches valued at RM600 were seized. The seizure of such a diverse array of items underscores the complexity and scale of the investigation into GISBH's activities.
Razarudin addressed concerns regarding the well-being of the seized animals. He denied claims that the police had neglected their care and assured the public that the animals were being looked after. The Department of Veterinary Services and local authorities have stepped in to ensure the animals receive proper care and medical attention. This response is a direct counter to accusations suggesting negligence, reaffirming the police’s commitment to humane treatment throughout the investigation.
The Inspector-General also touched on the plight of 572 children rescued during Op Global, a large-scale operation targeting criminal activities. These children are currently housed in 11 safe houses managed by the Department of Social Welfare (JKM). According to Razarudin, many of these children have not been claimed by their parents, possibly because the parents are trying to conceal their identities. This could be an attempt to obscure the children's true status, as some are falsely labeled as orphans.
Razarudin suggested that this misrepresentation could be part of a larger scheme to solicit donations fraudulently. Some of these children have names that include bin or binti Abdullah, further complicating their identification and enabling individuals to present them as orphans. He expressed concern that investigations may lead to charges under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with cheating and dishonesty.
Razarudin also pointed out the strange behavior exhibited by some of the children. It has been reported that some were instructed to claim they do not recognize their biological parents. The investigation revealed that certain members of GISBH have multiple wives and large families, with some having as many as 34 children. However, only two children typically live with them, raising questions about the whereabouts and treatment of the others. Razarudin suggested that these individuals may not even be aware of the names of many of their children, raising further suspicions about the group’s practices.
The investigation into GISBH is ongoing, and the authorities are working diligently to uncover the full extent of the group's activities. The seizure of assets, freezing of accounts, and rescue of children mark significant steps in what appears to be a multifaceted case involving fraud, potential child exploitation, and money laundering. The police are committed to seeing this investigation through, ensuring that those involved are brought to justice and that all affected parties, including the rescued children, are properly cared for.
