Kota Kinabalu: As of September this year, the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) and its agencies have disbursed RM950.78 million in financing to 44,059 entrepreneurs and cooperatives in Sabah.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the allocation reflects the government's continued commitment to expanding access to financing and supporting local business competitiveness, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister III and Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick at the opening of the Sabah-level Empowering Malaysian Business (HPM) Carnival 2026 at Lintasan Deasoka on Sunday.
Hajiji noted that efforts to bolster the entrepreneurial ecosystem align with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0 Development Plan (2026–2030), which focusses on enhancing state economic productivity, competitiveness, and value creation.
He also urged local entrepreneurs to look beyond domestic borders by improving product packaging, branding, and consistency to compete effectively in national and international markets.
