RNLI rescues six people after yacht collides with fish farm off coast of Scotland

• Six sailors have been rescued by the Red Bay RNLI after their 46ft yacht collided with a fish farm off the coast of Cushendall.
• The vessel lost power and steering in 60-knot gale-force winds while travelling from Oban in Scotland to Portugal.
• Volunteer RNLI crews responded to a 3.22am Mayday call, facing Force 9 winds, heavy rain and complete darkness.
• Lifeboat volunteers stood by the trapped vessel until dawn before successfully freeing it from the fish farm netting at 9.30am.
• The yacht and its six crew members were safely escorted into Glenarm harbour at 10am following a seven-hour operation.
