
Two armed miscreants entered a jewellery shop on ATI Road in Ludhiana in the guise of customers and took away ornaments and a new weapon worth lakhs of rupees after injuring the owner of the shop with a sharp weapon on Friday.
The police have initiated a probe into the incident. The injured jeweller has been admitted to a hospital.
Davinder Singh, a cousin of the jeweller, said two youths armed with a sharp weapon and a pistol had entered the jewellery on ATI Road posing as customers on Friday.
They came on foot and reached the strong room by overpowering the owner, Ranjit Singh. When confronted by the latter, they attacked the man with a weapon and detained him.
They took away gold and silver jewellery, a mobile and a Honda Activa scooter, besides a weapon, which was purchased by the jeweller a few days ago.
