Robert De Niro has slammed President Donald Trump as an "existential threat to our freedoms and security", claiming "he must be stopped now".

The Oscar-winning actor appeared at the "No Kings" demonstration in New York on Saturday (28 March), held in protest of ICE, the Iran war, and Trump's "desire to rule over us as a tyrant", according to organizers.

Addressing attendees with an “I Love New York” badge pinned to his jacket, The Godfather star said, "When the crowds are chanting 'No Kings', what I'm really hearing is 'No Trump'".

Trump has previously dismissed the "No Kings" protests as "very small" and "very ineffective," asserting that he is not a king and works diligently to improve the country.
