- In his new autobiography, The Wizard Of Prog, musician Rick Wakeman recounts an incident from a 1970 Paris gig with Strawbs where he unknowingly pushed Spanish artist Salvador Dalí off stage.
- Wakeman explained that he gave Dalí “a gentle nudge” off the stage after the artist interrupted his electric piano solo by waving a stick around, only discovering who the man was after bandleader Dave Cousins told him.
- Despite admiring Dalí's artwork, the 77-year-old keyboardist admitted he did not appreciate the painter wandering on stage and disrupting his solo during the live performance.
- The prog rock legend recently performed a concert in Vietnam for 150 rescued bears to support charity Animals Asia in raising awareness about illegal bear bile farming.
- Wakeman is also performing concerts in the Canary Islands based on the lectures of late cosmologist Stephen Hawking, continuing a long tradition of unusual live spectacles.
