Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren reveals ‘lowest point’ of cancer battle

  • Rocky IV actor Dolph Lundgren has revealed in his new memoir, Fights Worth Fighting: Finding Strength in Struggle, that he contemplated legal assisted suicide during the lowest point of his cancer treatment.
  • The 68-year-old star asked his brother Johan to help him potentially end his life in a country such as Switzerland, fearing he would be in too poor a physical condition to complete the process alone.
  • Lundgren was originally diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2015 and was informed in 2020 that his tumours had spread, which left him feeling deeply depressed and nearly hopeless.
  • In early 2022, cancer specialist Dr Alexandra Drakaki re-examined his medical samples and discovered he had been misdiagnosed, establishing that he actually had lung cancer.
  • Following a final lung ablation procedure in Los Angeles, Lundgren announced in 2024 that he was officially cancer-free.
