Rod Stewart has been forced to cancel two tour dates after needing an “unforeseen but minor medical procedure” – calling off the first just hours before he was due to take to the stage.
The 81-year-old singer is currently performing dates on his One Last Time tour across the US but pulled out of a concert in Ohio on Sunday (9 August) night, with a post on the venue’s Instagram account explaining: “Due to an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention, Rod Stewart’s performance tonight in Cincinnati has been postponed.”
It said rescheduling was “underway”, adding: “Rod is expected to make a quick recovery and looks forward to returning to Cincinnati.”
The Maggie May singer then cancelled a second gig, which had been scheduled for elsewhere in Ohio on Tuesday (11 August) evening.
A post shared on the Rocket Arena’s social media accounts on Monday (10 August) read: “Following a period of monitoring, doctors have advised Rod Stewart to rest for at least 48 hours.”
It continued: “As a result, his performance tomorrow night, August 11, 2026 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland has been cancelled.
“Rod is disappointed to miss the show and appreciates everyone’s understanding. He looks forward to returning to the stage soon.”
It’s not the first time Stewart cancelled concerts in recent months. In June, the singer pulled out of a California gig just hours before his stage time, citing “a diagnosis of an acute upper respiratory infection that has resulted in laryngitis”.
While fans initially sympathised with the star, the support soon turned to criticism when Stewart was spotted cheering on Scotland in the World Cup just a day later.
He later admitted it “wasn’t a good look” to attend the game just 24 hours after cancelling a gig, explaining in an interview on TalkSport: “I had to cancel a show the night before because I just had no voice left. But the truth is, I wasn’t going to let my two sons down.
“I promised them since they were born that we’re going to go to a World Cup, and this is the first one that’s come about. And it wasn’t a good look, I admit, but I’m going to just have to take the stick. So, I did it for the boys.”
A week before the California cancellation, Stewart had been forced to pause another concert after nearly fainting on stage.
The Scottish singer is due to perform a six-night Las Vegas residency later this month.
