The ROG Xbox Ally X has gotten a facelift during Computex 2026. Dubbed the ROG Xbox Ally X20 in celebration of ROG’s 20th anniversary, the refreshed gaming handheld is perhaps what the ROG Xbox Ally X should’ve been in the first place, with big upgrades to the screen and joysticks.

The first major change you’ll probably notice is that the handheld now comes with a transparent black case. ROG says that this pays homage to the good ol’ days when every gadget had that translucent plastic look to it. Of course, it helps that the translucent ROG Xbox Ally X20 also shows off the hardware and cooling system underneath, complete with gold accent accents across the frame.

But the true upgrade that makes this the ideal gaming handheld is perhaps its new 7.4-inch OLED display. The size of the handheld itself hasn’t changed, but ROG has instead managed to squeeze the top bezel smaller, allowing for a larger display that’s now OLED too. The 1080p panel can do up to a 120Hz refresh rate, supports FreeSync Premium Pro VRR, a peak brightness of 1400nits and has a layer of Gorilla Glass with DXC for glare reduction. Being OLED means that games not only look significantly better with deeper blacks, but is now brighter too for a more immersive experience.

Other nice upgrades coming to the ROG Xbox Ally X20 include TMR joysticks, which will finally eliminate joystick drift over time while also being more precise than Hall Effect joysticks. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 also gets a new D-pad which not only gets better clicky feedback but can now rotate too to switch from 4-movement axis to 8-movement axis for fighting games and the like.

The rest of the hardware for the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is pretty much the same as the standard ROG Xbox Ally X. This means you’re getting an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor under the hood with 24GB of LPDDR5X memory and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage, along with Windows 11 and the Xbox full screen experience out of the box.

There’s no word yet on when the ROG Xbox Ally X20 will be made available for gamers to get their hands on one, but rest assured we’ll let you know the moment it makes its way to Malaysia.
