Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today announced that the price of RON95 petrol will be reduced to RM1.99 per litre under a new targeted subsidy policy.

The rakyat-focused initiative aims to ease the financial burden for more than 18 million Malaysians, including motorcyclists, car owners, and gig economy workers.

The lower petrol price is made possible through a targeted subsidy approach aimed at ensuring the benefits reach those who need it most.

The announcement marks a significant move in the government’s ongoing efforts to manage the rising cost of living while ensuring subsidies are used efficiently.

More details on the implementation are expected to follow in the coming days.
