BLACKPINK’s Rose has officially left the Korea Music Copyright Association (Komca), making her the first major South Korean artist to do so since Seo Tai-ji in 2002.
According to Dispatch, she filed for termination in October 2024, and her contract officially ended on January 31, 2025, after a three-month grace period.
Komca manages music copyright and royalties for most South Korean artists, but Rose is setting her sights on expanding globally.
Her recent hit APT, a collaboration with Bruno Mars, helped boost her debut album Rosie. With international markets offering up to ten times more revenue than Korea, she seems to be shifting her business strategy.
Moving forward, Atlantic Records will handle her copyright earnings as she continues to grow her global presence.
Meanwhile, she’ll also join her girl group on their upcoming world tour, starting with 2 concerts at Goyang Stadium in South Korea on July 5 and 6, before heading to North America, Europe, and Japan.
