The Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja launched its Erythropoietin Injection Project for End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) patients, aimed at delivering life-sustaining erythropoietin treatments to 300 underprivileged dialysis patients across Malaysia over a 12- to 18-month period.
Erythropoietin injections are critical for ESKD patients undergoing dialysis, as they help to stabilise haemoglobin levels, reduce dependence on blood transfusions, and enhance the patient’s quality of life.

The launch event at Hotel Royal Signature Bukit Bintang on May 21 was graced by the Tunku Puteri Johor, Tunku Puteri Kamariah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. She is the sister of Malaysia’s King, Sultan Ibrahim.

The RM500,000 project was made possible through a Rotary International Global Grant and partnerships with the Rotary Club of Seokmun and District 3620 (South Korea), Rotary Club of Taipei Southgate and District 3481 (Taiwan), and the Yayasan Sultan Iskandar Johor.

“We are not just delivering injections. We are restoring strength, dignity, and hope,” said Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja president Dr Alaric Nathan, who co-led the project with project chair Dr Jaideep Singh and Datuk Jimmy Lim.

The programme was further supported by contributions from 16 Paul Harris Fellows of the club and a generous RM100,000 donation from Hardave Singh.

The project includes ongoing medical supervision, with patient outcomes monitored every three months in compliance with the Health Ministry’s guidelines.
