Roy Hodgson is happy to be back as Crystal Palace manager.

Hodgson returns after last week's dismissal of Patrick Vieira. He has been appointed to the end of the season, with Ray Lewington also back as his assistant manager.

Hodgson came out of retirement to take charge of Watford last season and has done so again to help out his former club.

The 75-year-old was unable to save the Hornets from relegation to the Championship last term but hopes for better luck this time, with the Eagles currently three points above the drop zone in 12th place.

"It is a privilege to be asked to return to the club, which has always meant so much to me, and to be given the important task of turning the team's fortunes around," he said.

"Our sole objective now is to start winning matches, and to get the points necessary to ensure our Premier League status.

"Crystal Palace is known for its fighting spirit, and I have no doubt that all our supporters will fight with us, beginning with the visit of Leicester City a week Saturday."
