Royal expert Jennie Bond questions timing of Earl Spencer book release: ‘What purpose did it serve?’

A royal expert has questioned the timing of Earl Spencer’s release of his book about Princess Diana.

The brother of the late Princess of Wales is releasing a memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, on Tuesday (22 September).

Revelations from the book, serialised by the Daily Mail before it is published, have so far focused on the King’s behaviour, from alleged statements he made to Diana before their marriage to the Earl's claims about comments the King made to him before her funeral.

Speaking to GB News, Jennie Bond said: "My thoughts are, 'Why? Why do this now? What purpose does it serve to rake up old family quarrels?'

"Prince Charles, when I knew him at this time and reported during those years... it was difficult, but he was not vindictive."
