His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, added a regal touch to the 2023 Istana Negara and the Public Service Charity Golf Tournament held at the picturesque Kuala Lumpur Public Service Golf Club (KGPA) on September 30, 2023. The event, meticulously orchestrated by the Public Service Department for the second consecutive year, was designed with the noble purpose of fostering deeper ties between the Istana Negara and the dedicated individuals serving in the Public Service.

Announcing this heartwarming occasion, Istana Negara shared the splendid news on its Facebook page. A total of 52 passionate golfers graced the greens on this delightful day, with His Majesty himself graciously agreeing to represent the Istana Negara team. The Istana Negara contingent was under the capable leadership of Major General Datuk Indera Zahari Mohd Ariffin, the Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara. On the other side of the fairway, the Civil Service team was masterfully guided by Datuk Seri Sollehuddin Alyubi Zakaria, the senior deputy secretary-general of the Prime Minister’s Department.

As the sun smiled down upon the golfers, it was the Public Service team that emerged triumphant, clinching the prestigious challenge trophy as a testament to their skill and camaraderie. This victory not only highlighted their prowess on the golf course but also the unity and harmony that exists within the Public Service.

Before teeing off, His Majesty was welcomed with open arms by Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, and the director-general of the Public Service Department, Datuk Zulkapli Mohamed. Their warm greetings set the tone for a day filled with not only friendly competition but also meaningful connections.

The tournament transcended the boundaries of sport, illustrating the commitment of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to fostering goodwill and mutual understanding. It served as a platform for individuals from different walks of life to come together, share their passion for golf, and strengthen the bond between the Istana Negara and the dedicated men and women in the Public Service.

In a world where unity is more crucial than ever, events like the 2023 Istana Negara and the Public Service Charity Golf Tournament remind us that even on the golf course, hearts can beat in harmony, transcending titles and positions for a common purpose.
