Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has officially delivered the Instrument of Royal Invitation for the installation of Malaysia’s 17th King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, to the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

In a Facebook post today (July 2), Fahmi, who also chairs the Special Committee for Events related to the Installation of the 17th King, explained that the invitation was presented with Sultan Ibrahim’s consent. "The Instrument of Royal Invitation was handed over through the son of Sheikh Hamad, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in Manama, Bahrain," he stated.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the Malaysian delegation and conveyed greetings from the King of Bahrain. He expressed His Majesty’s enthusiasm for strengthening the relationship between Bahrain and Malaysia. Fahmi noted, "Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the King of Bahrain’s desire to see the relationship with Malaysia continue to grow and prosper."

The post also mentioned the presence of several dignitaries during the delivery of the invitation, including the Grand Chamberlain of Istana Negara, Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnaini, and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Bahrain, Shazryll Zahiran.

Fahmi extended an invitation to all Malaysians to witness the historic installation ceremony, scheduled to take place at Istana Negara on July 20. Sultan Ibrahim officially took the oath and signed the instrument of office as the 17th King on January 31.

Fahmi previously announced on May 16 that the government, with the King’s consent, would organize a series of events in conjunction with the installation ceremony, a highly symbolic event that occurs once every five years. These events include a Yasin Recital and Prayer Ceremony at Masjid Negara, a visit by the Queen to the Orang Asli Hospital in Gombak, and the “Raja Kita” exhibition at Muzium Negara.

The planned activities highlight the significance of this royal event and aim to foster unity and national pride among Malaysians. The government's effort to organize these events reflects the deep respect and reverence for the monarchy, as well as a commitment to celebrating this important milestone in Malaysian history.
