Member of Parliament Malwinder Singh Kang inaugurated multiple development projects in the Balachaur constituency today. During inauguration, he highlighted that significant progress is being made across the state. He stated that projects worth Rs 23.5 lakh have been completed under the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) Fund in various villages.

Providing details, Kang said Rs 2.5 lakh was spent on constructing a community hall in Jagtewal village, while Rs 5 lakh was allocated for an SC Dharamshala in Jalalpur. Additionally, water tankers worth Rs 6 lakh were provided to Hedon Bet and Khandupur villages and Rs 10 lakh was spent on community centers in Pojewal and Takrala. This was his third visit to Nawanshahr in the last 10 days.

He emphasised that the government’s priority is to equip rural areas with urban-level amenities. Facilities such as open gyms and playgrounds, he noted, would help steer youth away from substance abuse and encourage sports participation. Community halls would also support social and cultural activities. Kang urged village panchayats to ensure proper utilisation of government funds while maintaining quality standards.

On the occasion, local MLA Santosh Kataria assured that there would be no shortage of funds for the holistic development of the Balachaur region. She added that over the past two years, development initiatives have reached every village, including the renovation of schools, the opening of Aam Aadmi Clinics and the expansion of link road networks. The event was attended by BDPO officials, representatives from various departments, village sarpanches, panches and a large number of local residents.
