In a move that has drawn interest in political circles, the BJP on Monday appointed senior RSS functionary from Uttar Pradesh Nagendra Nath Tripathi to a new role of national organiser in-charge of engaging senior party workers.

The appointment, approved by BJP president Nitin Nabin, marks the first major elevation of an RSS leader in the new organisational structure that the party’s youngest-ever chief is seeking to build.

Tripathi is currently the BJP’s regional (Jharkhand and Bihar) organisation general secretary. He has now been elevated as national organiser (senior worker liaison) and will be responsible for engaging senior party workers and leaders across the country.

Prior to his current role, Tripathi served as the state general secretary of the BJP in Bihar. Before that, he held the same position in Uttar Pradesh.
