Rubbish clean-up in Sepilok

SANDAKAN: A total of 43 bags of rubbish were successfully collected by 33 volunteers from eight agencies during the community clean-up programme “SCRAP: Sepilok Bebas Sampah” recently held in Sepilok, Batu 14, here.

The clean-up activity was carried out along the roadside from Batu 12 (Petron) to Batu 14 at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC).

In addition to the Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), the programme was also joined by representatives from the Forestry Research Centre, Sandakan Municipal Council, Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, as well as tourism operators including Nasalis Tanini Sepilok, Sepilok B&B, and Sepilok Jungle Resort.

Among the objectives of the programme was to raise awareness on cleanliness and environmental conservation in Sepilok, a popular tourist destination.
