Rubio says Trump admin has ‘no role’ in blocking Tate brothers’ extradition to UK

  • U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and a Trump administration official have indicated they will not intervene to block the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate to the UK to face rape charges.
  • The social media influencers were arrested in Miami on Saturday, with court filings stating Rubio has the sole discretion to prevent their removal from the U.S.
  • Court documents unsealed Monday detail allegations from three UK complainants against the brothers, including rape, assault, trafficking and offenses related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography, spanning 2010 to 2017.
  • The Tate brothers already face charges in the UK for rape, bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain involving three other alleged victims between 2012 and 2015.
  • Their lawyer claims the arrests are politically motivated, and a U.S. district judge will determine if they meet extradition conditions, with a hearing scheduled for July 27.
