SANDAKAN: The Lions Club of Sandakan City embarked on a journey to support the local youths through Run for Montfort Youth Hostel 2023.

The charity event aims to raise funds for essential facility replacements at the Montfort Youth Hostel.

The club members, recognising the need to provide a nurturing environment for disadvantaged youths, took the initiative to organise this event. With the support of the community, the club intends to replace faulty fans, outdated refrigerators and other worn-out facilities, thereby creating an improved living space for the youths.

By registering for the run, individuals can contribute directly to the fundraising efforts.

In conjunction with the preparations for the run, the club paid a courtesy visit on Tanjung Papat Assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon.

The visit served as an opportunity for the members to showcase their initiatives and discuss collaborative efforts to benefit the community.

Poon’s presence exemplified his dedication to engage with local organisations dedicated to community welfare, demonstrating his commitment to uplift the lives of the needy.

During the visit, the members expressed their gratitude to Poon for his support and guidance.

The club remains steadfast in its mission to serve the community, extending its commitment to areas such as youth development, environmental conservation, education, healthcare services, elderly care and disaster relief.
