While the title may mislead readers to judge me- on the contrary I'm rarely the person who runs away from issues (notice I don't use the word problem). Running has been my escapism of sort and like an ex colleague used to tell me. that's my coping mechanism. I started running just blindly after seeing a Instagram post on a 3.5km Fun Run route over in Putrajaya Wetlands. Back then, I thought, Man! I could not even see myself running that sort of distance. That was in year 2017 and like they say the rest was history. I signed up for running events almost every 2 runs in every month.
I recently came across this book by Tom Rath, Eat Move Sleep from my online preloved shopping of books.

In "Eat Move Sleep," Tom Rath explores the critical role that our daily habits play in determining our health and well-being. Rath argues that making small, incremental changes to our daily routines can lead to significant improvements in our physical and mental health over time.
I had this runner's high as I started my running routine. Don't get me wrong. I was slightly overweight and of course my knees hurt after that first time of running. That did not stop me. I get the happy #feelgood feeling after the soreness.
Rath offers a wealth of practical advice on how to improve our eating, exercise, and sleep habits. He emphasizes the importance of eating nutrient-dense foods, avoiding processed foods and sugar, and eating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day. He also recommends finding a form of exercise that you enjoy and making it a regular part of your routine, even if it's just a few minutes of movement throughout the day.
In addition to focusing on eating and exercise, Rath emphasizes the importance of sleep. He discusses the negative effects of sleep deprivation on our health and offers tips for improving our sleep quality, such as creating a relaxing bedtime routine and avoiding electronics before bed.
When it comes to sleeping, this is where most of us fail at. I thought that after a hard days workout at the gym, I can fall asleep easily but I did not. In my case and maybe like the rest of us the culprit might be our cellular phones and accessing it just before we fall asleep. During COVID-19 and my remote working schedules wit the media, does little help to getting a good night set of lullabies.
Throughout the book, Rath emphasizes the importance of self-awareness and tracking our progress towards our health goals. He suggests using tools like a pedometer or a food journal to monitor our daily habits and make adjustments as needed. Whenever I take photos of my daily food to send to my PT( Personal Trainer) I can feel the set of eyes looking like I am Gen Z material posting on soc media. It was said that keeping food journals can assist in losing weight
Overall, "Eat Move Sleep" is a practical and accessible guide to improving our health through small, sustainable changes to our daily habits.
For me, the 3Rs has help me handle my stress and escapism. Reading, Running and Resting.
For me and lets hope we all can implement this in our daily lives as well.
