What is it like to be a politician? Is it truly about the money and the fame or is there something more sinister than that? It can be argued that a good amount of politician is sometimes caught in corruption. However, not all politicians are the same. We are individuals with feelings, passion, and a plan. Just like everyone else, we are doing our job as best as we can. However, the difference in our job compared to the rest of the population would be our love for helping the people of our nation. Venturing into politics requires mental, emotional, and physical strength.

I have written quite a lot of articles, trying to bring up the issue that has been brought up by the B40 communities. I realized that the responses that I get from my articles are very much a biased point of view from the extremely woke generation that is usually situated in the urban areas. Their argument usually stems from how extreme my views are when it is merely the feedback I have gotten from those who came from different backgrounds.

Politicians are the voice of the people. Even though my views may be different, it is still an opinion nonetheless. It may not favor some. It is not about getting it right, but it is about ensuring that all voices are heard equally. I am sure, that the voice of those in the urban areas are well heard. The usage of social media, advancement in technology, and billboards are ways for those in urban areas to convey their messages and concerns to one another. However, have they considered how the population that resides in the rural area might share their struggles and sufferings?

Additionally, I realized that most commenters are looking down on the capabilities of those who are in rural areas. Their perception is that most Perikatan Nasional supporters are not capable of speaking English. Even if that is the case, what is wrong with conveying the message of those who are less fortunate in a different language? It is a great exposure to those English speakers who are not familiar with Bahasa Melayu.

Another perception would be on how most Perikatan Nasional supporters are from the rural areas only, which is not true. I think most people have purposely forgotten that Perikatan Nasional gave a good fight even in the urban areas as well. Therefore, our supporters are well-spoken, in both English and Malay despite their living locations.

To ensure harmony in our country, both the government and opposition supporters must recognize that sufferings come in all forms. Just because one cannot relate to the suffering of the other, it does not mean that it does not exist. As a politician, my beliefs are that I want to ensure equality and equity for all. It is only then can Malaysia develop positively.
