Ruslan unopposed as PBS Lumadan chief

BEAUFORT: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Vice President Datuk Ruslan Muharam has retained his position as PBS Lumadan Division Chief after winning uncontested with 185 nominations at the division’s Annual General Meeting.

While the division’s top leadership, including the Deputy Chief, Vice Chief as well as the heads of its Youth and Women wings, remained unchanged, a significant shift occurred at the committee and deputy levels, which are now largely driven by younger members.

Ruslan, who is also Lumadan Assemblyman, said the election results demonstrate a strong vote of confidence in the incumbent leadership while successfully paving the way for the next generation.

“Blending the experience of seasoned leaders with the fresh ideas and energy of the youth will be crucial to strengthening the party and connecting with the grassroots,” he said during the event last Saturday, which was officiated by PBS Vice President Datuk Hendrus Anding.

The joint meeting also brought together four other PBS divisions, namely Bongawan, Membakut, Klias, and Sindumin. Sipitang Member of Parliament Datuk Matbali Musah was also in attendance.

Highlighting the party’s growing momentum in the constituency, Ruslan revealed that PBS had accepted 391 new membership applications across 11 local branches during the AGM.

“This influx proves the public’s enduring faith in our cause,” he said, urging both successful candidates and other members to work collaboratively.

“Every member has a vital role to play. We must remain united to ensure the interests of the people of Lumadan are always protected.”
