The Russian military has attacked two civilian merchant ships in the Black Sea with drones, Ukrainian authorities reported on Friday.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba and the port administration said a crew member on a Panamanian-flagged vessel was killed in the attack, while two other seafarers were injured, one of them seriously.

On the second freighter, which was flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, three crew members were reportedly slightly injured.

Ukraine has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for more than four years. Despite constant Russian attacks on port infrastructure, 40 million metric tons of goods have already been handled in Ukrainian ports since the start of the year, according to Ukrainian authorities.
