THE Kremlin has confirmed that Russia has received what Washington and Kyiv have described as an “updated and refined peace framework” aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, and will convene discussions on the proposals in Moscow next week.

Reuters reported President Vladimir Putin saying on Thursday that a set of draft ideas explored between the United States and Ukraine during talks in Geneva “could become the basis of future agreements to end the conflict”, adding that if no settlement were reached, “Russia would fight on”.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday: “These details have been passed onto us, yes, and there will be a discussion in Moscow next week.”

Steve Witkoff, special envoy to U.S. President Donald Trump, is expected in Moscow for talks with Putin regarding the proposals.

Asked when the meeting would take place, Peskov said the Kremlin would notify the press in due course. - November 28, 2025
