MOSCOW, May 22 — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov today denied a US assertion that Russia has launched an anti-satellite weapon.

Ryabkov said Moscow opposed the deployment of weapons in orbit, the TASS and Interfax news agencies reported.

Ryabkov said Russia was still complying with quantitative restrictions on nuclear weapons set out by the New START treaty between Moscow and Washington. — Reuters
