- Russian forces have ignored a unilateral ceasefire proposed by Ukraine, launching fresh airstrikes in the early hours of Wednesday, according to the Ukrainian military.
- Ukraine's air force reported that the attack involved at least 89 Russian drones and ballistic missiles, with hits confirmed in eight locations.
- The Ukrainian military warned that the attack was ongoing, with several enemy unmanned aerial vehicles still in the airspace.
- The ceasefire, proposed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, took effect at midnight, following Russia's most severe strikes of the year on Tuesday; prior to the ceasefire, at least 27 people were killed in Russian strikes across eastern Ukraine.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin has not committed to observing the ceasefire, but has proposed his own truce to cover 8 and 9 May, when Russia will commemorate the end of the Second World War with a military parade.
