Residents across Ukraine were woken overnight by renewed Russian attacks as air raid alerts sounded nationwide and explosions were reported in the capital Kiev.
Ukraine's military warned of incoming drones and ballistic missiles, according to Ukrainian media reports. Explosions were heard in Kiev shortly afterwards and several buildings were damaged, the Kyiv Independent reported early on Thursday. There was no immediate information on casualties.
Russia had already carried out drone strikes throughout Wednesday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 800 drones had been launched against the country.
At least six people were killed and dozens injured in the attacks, Zelensky said, describing the strikes as "terror."
