
The Moscow-appointed authorities in Russian-occupied Crimea on Monday banned taking children on holiday to the Black Sea peninsula up to September 1 in response to the current security situation.
"These measures are necessary for the maintenance of public safety," Sergey Aksyonov, the Moscow-appointed political head of Crimea, said on Telegram. He appealed for understanding.
Ukrainian drone attacks have caused a severe fuel shortage in the region. Earlier restrictions on fuel sales to private motorists have now been replaced by a complete ban.
Regional energy provider Krimenergo has announced schedules for electricity outages, which will also impact water supplies.
Ukraine has been warding off a full-scale Russian invasion with Western assistance since February 2022.
In an interview a week ago, Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said he aimed to isolate the peninsula by means of drone attacks.
Ukrainian attacks on Russian resupply lines were opening up a "window of opportunities," he said. "For the Russians, a hell is starting that they will be able to overcome only with difficulty," Fedorov said.
