Russia launched several missiles at targets in Ukraine, including the capital Kiev, Ukrainian officials said early on Thursday.

"The enemy is attacking the capital with ballistic missiles," Kiev military governor Tymur Tkachenko said on Telegram.

Several explosions were heard in central Kiev, a dpa correspondent reported.

Ukraine's Air Force said at least two missiles were heading towards Kiev, while another was directed at the central Poltava region.

Ukraine has been fighting a Russian invasion for more than four years.
