Three people have been killed in border areas in Ukrainian attacks, Russian authorities said on Thursday.

A Ukrainian drone hit a bus in the village of Voznesenovka near the border, the crisis staff of the Belgorod region said, adding that a woman was killed and 11 others were injured.

Two people were killed in the Bryansk region in a Ukrainian attack on the border settlement of Belaya Beryoska, acting regional governor Yegor Kovalchuk said, according to Russia's state news agency TASS. Kovalchuk initially said one person had been killed and three injured, he said. A man later died of his injuries in hospital.

Ukraine has been defending itself with Western help for more than four years against Russia's full-scale war against it. As part of its defensive campaign, it repeatedly attacks targets in Russia.

The number of victims and the extent of the damage bear no comparison with the devastating consequences of Russian attacks in Ukraine. Belgorod is one of the regions in Russia hardest hit by the war.
