Hey there, true believers! Film directors Anthony and Joe Russo announced that more Marvel characters will be added to “Avengers: Doomsday.”
Speaking with Empire Online, the Russo brothers said the “farthest they can say is that there are more characters and actors who have not been announced, who are a part of ‘Doomsday.’”
So far, 30 to 31 cast members have been officially announced for the film, including founding members such as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Fan favorites such as the new Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie); Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd); and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) are also joining the film, alongside the next generation of heroes, including Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu).
Popular teams such as the Fantastic Four and the X-Men are also set to be part of the film’s plot.
Possible characters joining “Doomsday”
Now that the Russos have confirmed that more characters are joining “Avengers: Doomsday,” the question remains: Who else will join them?
It starts with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) kidnapping Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) during the post-credit scene of “Avengers: Endgame Encore.”
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could also be abducted by Doctor Doom, given that the spider tracker traced his location off-world during the events of “Brand New Day.” Not to mention rumors that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man could join the fray.
There are also hints that Wolverine and Deadpool could appear in the film. Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds made a not-so-subtle plea to join the film during the San Diego Comic-Con panel and tried again, this time with Hugh Jackman by his side at D23.
Lastly, the identities of the Latverian witches are hinted to be Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Clea (Charlize Theron), Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), and Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).
Other characters who are still missing include Captain Marvel, Clint Barton, Kate Bishop, Kamala Khan, Monica Rambeau, Vision, and many more.
“Avengers: Doomsday” will hit theaters on Dec. 16 overseas and Dec. 18 in the United States.
