It’s no secret that many people are currently suffering through the floods in various places across Malaysia from Johor to Melaka. With the constant and extreme devastation from the floods, many have lost their homes and are struggling to get back on their feet.
Thankfully, help seems to be coming not only from Malaysians, but also friends from other countries!
Singaporean entertainer Wang Lei 王雷, also known as ‘Mai Yu Ge’ or Fishmonger King, took to his Facebook page to fundraise assistance for Malaysian flood victims in a Live session and within 50 minutes, he raised a staggering RM600,000!
In the Live session titled ‘Flood in Malaysia’, he showcased images of the devastation caused by the natural disaster while sharing that, despite the flood waters residing in some places, the damage is still extensive and help is needed.
His initial target for the fundraiser was RM300,000, but by the end of the Live session, with lasted 50 minutes, the amount had doubled thanks to his generous followers.
The donations had ranged from RM10 to even RM15,000!
Watching how quickly the donations were coming in, Mai Yu Ge even showed how he was getting goosebumps and thanked the people for their charitable actions.
We’re so thankful that there are many out there who are helping to raise awareness on the troubles of Malaysians having to endure constant and damaging floods, and that there are countless people out there who are happy to help however they can!
