A 27-year-old Singaporean driver is under investigation after allegedly making an illegal U-turn on the Second Link highway in Johor, which led to a fatal crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist.

The incident happened on the evening of May 9 at the 0.6km mark of the expressway. The red Maserati reportedly attempted a U-turn at a gap in the road divider but crashed into a metal barrier. The impact sent shards of the barrier flying onto the road, triggering a four-vehicle pile-up.

A 26-year-old motorcyclist tragically died after crashing into the debris. Police said he suffered severe head and leg injuries and died at the scene.

Dashcam footage of the crash, which has since gone viral, shows the Maserati ending up in the opposite lane heading toward Singapore. Moments later, a motorcyclist is seen colliding with the scattered debris.

The victim’s motorcycle storage box was flung into another lane and struck by two other bikes, though those riders were unharmed.

Tensions flared at the scene. Several road users were seen surrounding the Maserati, shouting and hitting the car with helmets before police arrived.

A video posted by SG Road Vigilante on Facebook captured the chaotic aftermath, showing the car with a shattered windscreen and a damaged front end.

Authorities are now investigating the case under Malaysia’s Road Transport Act for reckless driving causing death, and under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon.
