Previously, we shared the story of how a 6-year-old Singaporean boy had his foot stuck in an escalator at an MRT station in Singapore.
Now, another similar incident happened at an MRT station in the country, this time involving a 48-year-old woman getting her fingers caught while inside a train.
As reported by The Straits Times, the woman, known as Ms Ng got her fingers caught between the MRT train door and the train wall.
The incident happened yesterday (4 August) while Ms Ng was standing close to the train doors and almost lost her balance when the train was approaching Lavender MRT station.
Ms Ng instinctively put her left hand on the train door to avoid falling over but at that exact moment, the train door opened as it had already reached the station.
As a result, her fingers were pushed into the gap between the door and the train wall, causing her to scream in pain.
Thankfully, the other passengers near her were quick to react after seeing what had happened or her injuries could’ve been a lot worse. She recalled,
“Thankfully, some passengers saw what happened. There were 3 to 4 of them who came to help push the opening train door in the opposite direction…
“Other people rushed to press the emergency button and the train stopped. MRT staff members arrived and took me to their office to provide some basic medical treatment.”
She escaped the incident with fractures on her pinky and ring fingers. Ms Ng also spent more than SGD200 or approximately RM680 on treatment at the hospital emergency department afterwards and would also be seeing an orthopaedic doctor for further treatment.
