Carles Alena admits he's baffled why he's been frozen out at Barcelona.

Alena started the first match of Barcelona's season against Athletic Club, but was taken off at half time and hasn't been used since.

"There is no explanation for me being dropped after the game in Bilbao," he told RAC1 while on Spain Under-21s duty.

"No player likes being left out of the squad.

"It's a decision taken by the coach.

"Of course it affects the player."

He also stated that he is happy about Ivan Rakitic staying with the club and that he looks forward to the competition for midfield minutes.

"I think I have a chance of fighting for a spot in the line-up," he said. "I think everyone who is in the squad will be used.

"I 100 percent believe I can turn the situation around.

"I am determined to succeed at Barcelona."
